Sunday Style Crush: Fab Furs

I know that fur is a bit controversial, but I can’t stop thinking about these little fur stoles + wraps.  Whether you go for the real deal or for faux, there are some amazing options out there right now.  They’re warm, cozy, and just plain fun.  Here are five of my favorites.

I’ve been looking more and more at fur accessories/clothes because there are so many vests out now, and these would be a great medium step! I love love the brown collar fur.
    Great choices!

Yeah, I really love the idea of adding a little fur (real or faux) embellishment to an outfit vs. going all out with a jacket or coat!

I’m disappointed that you are promoting real fur as well as faux. It is barbaric the way they skin animals, it would make you sick if you knew more about how it’s done. Many times animals are still alive when it happens and suffer unimaginable pain.

There are thousands of faux fur options that are more beautiful because you know that you did not cause the agony and death of an animal for your fashion.

Please consider this in your future buying of fur as well as on your blog. You could influence hundreds of people based upon what you write here.

I only go the faux way, but I’m loving it more and more this season.

Sorry, I like your blog but I think you should read more about the fur industry:

I feel very conflicted because I love your site and have posted so many of your projects on my Tumblr Blog and my readers love your DIYs. At the same time I wouldn’t say fur is “a bit controversial”. After looking into it, especially the fur trade in China whose fur often goes unlabeled in the US, and with all the gorgeous faux fur options out there, I wonder why anyone wears real fur anymore.

I’m so sorry to make you feel conflicted. Your site is one of my favorites as well. I think it’s a personal decision and that is why I included both real + faux options.

Since you’ve had four people reply to this blog post with concerns, I was wondering if you could respond to it. I normally love your blog but I will have to unfollow it and your sponsors if this doesn’t get addressed.

      Hi there,

I am sorry that you – and a few other readers were offended by the fact that I included fur in my post. Whether you choose to wear it or not is a personal decision, which is why I included both real + faux options in my post.

I would hate to lose you as a follower, but I understand if you choose to unfollow.

      thank you,
      Grace

        Grace,

Thank you for replying. I respectfully disagree that it is a personal choice. Please just spend 10 minutes researching it or watch one video on how it is done and I promise that you will have a different outlook.

I honestly used to think it was a personal choice as well. You could make a difference by only promoting faux options.

I appreciate your response and the chance to discuss this issue.

        Thank you,
        Jennifer

    Grace-
I’m a lot late to this commentary, but wanted to say I’m with you. I enjoy wearing my grandmother’s (inherited) real fur stole/collar with sweaters & wool coats, and I also love my faux leopard fur coat. I don’t really feel like keeping a vintage item in use is an active support of the contemporary fur industry. You put great outfits together and I love your blog. :) k
