So… you might have noticed that things look pretty different around here. Last Thursday, S&S debuted a snazzy new look and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Over the past year or so, S&S has had four or five mini-makeovers… none of which have felt particularly right. It felt time for the real deal and a more grown up website. I worked with (the amazing) Erin & Tim of Cooperhouse, and couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. They were absolutely incredible (and lovely + helpful) to work with and we’ve spent the past few months rebranding, agonizing over color palettes, and making the site more user-friendly. I had chosen them because I loved Cass’s redesign so very much, and don’t regret it – they were amazing! My primary focus (besides the pretty stuff) was to make my content easier to find. As I typically post twice a day here, posts can get easily buried. I wanted to just take a moment to point out a few of the new features. In addition to that, I’ve added two new pages: An FAQ and a City Guide. I get so many questions about my favorite places in New York.. I thought I’d put them all in one place.
Drop Down Menus: This was one of the features I was most excited to add to the site. Now S&S’s main categories (DIY, Fashion, Style, Life) are easier for you to navigate and you can find what you are really looking for. For example, you could click into DIY to view all of my projects… or you could click into a subcategory – bracelets, necklaces, etc. Much easier than scrolling through page after page of posts.
Archive Pages: I had archives set up before, but we’ve enhanced and cleaned them up a bit. Now, when you click into an archive page, you’ll see 20 items per screen, and when you roll over the tile, you’ll be able to see the name of the post.
The Slideshow: Like I said before, my content gets buried! Now at the top of the site there is this pretty little slideshow feature, which I’ll adjust every day to highlight the posts that I’m loving most.
Easier Pinning! I am personally very much addicted to Pinterest… and I know that many of you are the same way. Now, whenever you roll over an image on the site, this little pin-it button will pop up in the bottom right hand corner, enabling easy pinning.
There you have it. I hope you enjoy the new features of the site. I’d love to hear your feedback… especially if you have any concerns or issues about the new site – I’ll do my best to get them fixed!
