Week in Review: 3/30/12

Greetings from sunny California!  The boyfriend and I are in LA for a long weekend… seeing friends, relaxing, and soaking up a little sunshine.   I’m such a New York girl… but I can’t say I don’t fantasize about moving to LA.  A healthy (gluten-free!) restaurant on every corner, driving along the coast with the top down, working on my blog poolside after work… I could totally do it.  Then again, I love New York.  I guess I like having the best of both worlds – living in New York, but getting to LA frequently enough.

This week was a fun one… here are a few highlights!

  • My parents were in town, so we went to see the Allman Brothers on Sunday night, and had a delicious dinner at my sister’s place in Brooklyn on Monday.
  • I took a couple more baths.  So relaxing.
  • It was another crazy week at BaubleBar, but what else is new – we have so many exciting things in the works!!
  • We finished up Game of Thrones.  All I have to say about that is… whoa.  If you saw it too, I’d love to hear your reaction in the comments section!
  • I guest posted on Julie’s blog.  Such a fun series.

Weekend plans include…

  • A drive down to the beach today, and lunch with the boyfriend’s college friend.
  •  Saturday brunch with Lauren and Erica… and all of our significant others!  (I’ve been looking forward to this for weeks.)
  • A fun night out seeing a bunch of our L.A. friends (including some of his friends from Jiro Dreams of Sushi – shameless plug, but if you haven’t seen it and you’re into food, it’s a must!)
  • Maybe seeing Hunger Games.  Really, really want to.

Favorite things from the web:

  • I really loved Carly’s clutch.  Totally, completely brilliant – and so easy!
  • Tara’s confetti nail DIY for Glitter Guide was pure awesome.  Must try this!
  • Honestly WTF is giving away a set of rings from my other favorite jewelry website… Catbird!
  • Club Monaco is open for business – finally!!
  • My girl crush (one of them,) Maegan, created a fantastic leather collar!
  • Blair shows you how to rock my favorite Stylemint dress.  Seriously great.  I have this dress in both blue + red and love how she styled it.  If only we could all be this awesome.
  • Christine got a new do.  How good does she look!?  Loving it.  Also, she made cake batter bark.  Yum.  Not in the least bit embarrassed to admit that I share her affinity for boxed cake mix.

Blog of the Week:  Lately, I’m loving Inspiration & Realisation.  Her DIY projects are fun and easy – and runway focused.  I thought this McQ inspired bracelet was really creative.  Bookmark her site… and be prepared to be inspired!

LOVE game of thrones! i am beyond thrilled for season 2 to start this weekend! the books are great, too – i read all of them before i started watching but i would recommend re-reading the book that corresponds to the hbo season because it gets confusing as to what happened when!

Have so much fun in L.A. and take it from a New York girl living in L.A. – you get used to the laid back lifestyle pretty fast! The constant sunshine doesn’t hurt either :)

Is it gross that I prefer boxed cake mix possibly 90% more than places like Magnolias, etc? So that cake batter bark is right up my alley! I will definitely have to try that!

    Have a great weekend!
