DIY: Oscar de la Renta inspired Tassel Earrings.

Oscar, Oscar, Oscar…  Could his designs possibly be any more elegant?  Fit for a queen – or lady of liesure; everything he sends down the runway never fails to impress (and inspire lust in the hearts of the rest of us.)  When I spotted these pearl and crystal clip drop earringson Net-a-Porter, I fell in love.  And in cobalt blue no less… positively enchanting.  Alas, at $795, not exactly budget-friendly.

Materials:

More… after the jump!

Start by taking seven strands of beads and tying a knot at the the top of them.  Allow about 4-5 inches, and then cut them apart.
Make each strand about 2.5″ long (you can vary it based on your preference,) and double knot each strand at the end.  To reinforce each strand, add a seed bead to the end of each knot… this will ensure that beads do not slip off.
Cut the strand just before the top knot.
Thread a piece (about 6-7″) of beading thread through your knot.
String on the disk bead and then the cap…
Add a seed bead to one of the ends, and then tie a knot at the top.
Tie on the earring hook and your done.  For extra credit, reinforce the ends and all knots with a tiny bit of Fray Check.  Use a toothpick to ensure precision.
